Our sensory and physical provision helps pupils understand and manage their sensory needs so they can engage fully with school life
Sensory Integration
Sensory integration underpins our approach. We recognise that many of our pupils experience the world differently and work to create environments that support self-regulation and reduce sensory overload.
Sensory Circuits
Sensory circuits are structured movement programmes delivered at the start of the school day. Each circuit moves through alerting, organising and calming activities to help pupils arrive in an optimal state for learning.
Hydrotherapy / Water Play
Hydrotherapy takes place in our on-site water play area. Warm water provides a therapeutic environment that support relaxation, physical development, and sensory processing which is particularly beneficial for pupils with complex physical needs
Rebound Therapy
Rebound therapy uses trampolines under specialist guidance to improve balance, coordination, muscle tone and body awareness. It's also a firm favourite with our pupils
Interactive Floor
Our interactive floor transforms movement and play into powerful learning opportunities. Projecting responsive games and activities on the floor surface, it supports cause and effect understanding, physical development, attention and social interaction all in an engaging, low pressure environment.
Sensory Room
The Bob Bush sensory learning space is a dedicated space where pupils can explore, regulate and recharge. Featuring fibre optic lighting, bubble tubes, soft furnishings, adjustable soundscapes and tactile equipment, it supports pupils who need help with regulation, anxiety or sensory processing which is used proactively as part of planned sensory diets and reactively when additional calm-down support is needed
All sensory provision is informed by individual pupil profiles and developed in collaboration with occupational therapists and physiotherapists.
