Progress and Celebration
At Hatton, progress looks different for every single child. We are dedicated to capturing, measuring, and celebrating every milestone - no matter how small. Through our tailored assessment frameworks and a vibrant culture of praise, we ensure our pupils recognise their own successes and feel proud of their unique learning journeys.
Tracking our Progress
The Hatton Progression Steps
Our progress is tracked using Hatton Progression Steps, a carefully sequenced set of milestones that guide pupils from their earliest stages of developmental exploration up to the Pre Key Stage Standards of the National Curriculum. This allows our teaching teams to accurately map individual skills, knowledge, and concepts over time, ensuring every child is supported at their exact baseline.
Our "Spiral" Curriculum Design
Learning at Hatton is continuous and reinforcing. Our curriculum uses a "spiral" approach, meaning core topics, concepts, and skills are intentionally revisited many times throughout a pupil's journey. Each time a topic returns, it is delivered with greater depth and complexity. This purposeful repetition ensures that learning becomes secure and long lasting, builds confidence, and allows pupils to apply their skills in entirely new ways.
Celebration & Achievement
Why We Celebrate
Positive reinforcement is at the heart of everything we do. Celebrating success deeply matters because it gives our pupils clarity about what they are learning, provides a strong foundation that builds confidence for life beyond Hatton, and inspires them to stretch themselves further than they thought possible.
How We Share Success
We love to showcase achievements across our entire school community. We celebrate our pupils' hard work and milestones through:
- Weekly Celebration Assemblies: Where individual achievements, kindness, and effort are praised in front of peers.
- Vibrant School Displays: Turning our corridor into a colourful gallery of pupil work and success stories.
- Star of the Week Awards: Recognising special effort, milestones, and personal breakthroughs.
- Home-School Sharing: Ensuring parents are an active part of every victory through our direct digital communication apps.
